Maelgwn, leader of a clutch of gargoyles in Durango, Colorado, only planned to be in Stone Ridge a few days to help a fellow gargoyle’s mate through laying their first egg. His plan to leave changes when he scents his mate in the hospital. He discovers his mate is Bobby Truman, a human who has no idea the paranormal world exists, even though a number of his friends are shifters. Maelgwn begins the arduous process of watching and waiting, searching for that perfect opportunity to make contact with his mate.
Bobby Truman is tired of his boyfriend, Seth’s, abusive friends, especially when Seth doesn’t do anything about their antics. The broken nose, compliments of Seth’s buddy Grant, is the final straw. When he’s attacked by muggers and rescued by a mysterious stranger in the dark, Bobby hopes it’s the opportunity he needs to make a clean break from Seth. Even if it doesn’t work out with Maelgwn, maybe Bobby can keep his new love interest’s attention long enough to prove to Seth they are really done.
Bobby thinks it’s odd that Maelgwn won’t come into the light, always meeting him after dark, but he’s nowhere near prepared for the truth when it finally comes out.
Can Maelgwn convince Bobby that the things that go bump in the night aren’t always bad and to take his place at Maelgwn’s side in a paranormal world? Even when that means uprooting his life and moving?

This book felt less coherent than most of the authors works. Most have straightforward, if simple, plots and this did, as well. However the shift from Stone Ridge to the Clutches estate felt like two separate stories merged, and not well.Having said that, it is nice for new group of characters to be introduced.
Finally, I think it's time it was said. The author needs to can it on the sexism. I hope i never have to read another comment where the protagonist insists he "doesn't need help" because "he's not a girl" or "girls like silly things like florals and not cool manly things! Hah, girls. Best to avoid them cuz girls are icky." It's gotten really old, really fast. The author presumably knows that women are every bit as complex, capable, and important as men, so I'm not sure why the few women are always being dismissed and derided by the PoV men. Even the women who are treated well, are generally just one-note, and there to be caretakers.

Trill to Me Sweetly A Paranormal Love Book 1 edition by Charlie Richards Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I can't tell if this book is part of a series or not (the story seems to indicate it is, but the summary says it's "book 1 of 1"), but I got the feeling I was supposed to know who all the characters were. I didn't...and it feels like there's half of the plot I didn't get as a result. Regardless, the development of the main characters and writing are passable. The plot is an afterthought, and doesn't really matter anyway since the pacing moves so fast as to make it irrelevant. Even with that in mind, my 2-star rating has more to do with the price of this book than anything between the pages. There are longer (and more engaging) books on for $5. Take my advice and spend your money elsewhere. Not recommended.
This is a delight! I enjoyed finding out that 'Bobby' the cute twink who dated Lyle in the Wolves of Stone Ridge series has a mate. But in true Charlie Richards style it's not just any type of mate, it's a Gargoyle!
Maelgwyn the gargoyle Clutch leader has fallen for our little Bobby and sets out to woo him into becoming his mate. What happens is a sweet tale that leaves the reader believing in the romantic notion that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and it truly is what is on the inside that counts..I will definitely continue on with this series as well as the wolves of stone ridge and Kontra's ménage. Great read!!
Let's start by saying what I didn't like. It felt like I was dropped in the middle of a story, so much so that I attempted to find the Book amongst Richards various series the end of which left off where this one picked up/began. I was not successful because that Book didn't exist. So the middle of a story is just a author's ploy to annoy this reader any way. Other than that I really liked this first book in a several book series, one of which was just recently released. So I plan to do a bunch of reading this weekend.
If you enjoy stories about a small defenseless abused guy, his big strong hero, discovering why he's being abused, how he finally escapes from his terrible situation, with two juxtaposing reactions to having the knowledge of the existence of paranormals dropped in their laps, the reaction of a human learning about male pregnancy, the importance of friendship especially during difficult times, a clutch full of gargoyles then this is the book for you to read.
Why moving doesn't solve all your problems and just might create more? There's a lot to look forward to in future books not only about the gargoyles but the vampires that have been introduced.
I was so excited when I saw that this was to be Mal's book. After being introduced to Tible the Gargoyle in Gus' book, I was so curious to find out what came of the gargoyle who came to help them. And then there is the semi-regular character, Bobbie who was mentioned in a few books in conjunction with Lyle.
I should stop by explaining that, though this is a new series, in a way that's a misnomer because its really a spin off from the Wolves of Stoney Ridge series and seems to be meant for the paranormals that don't quite fit into the wolf community such as the gargoyles and the vampires that live nearby.
As to this story, it begins with the human, Bobby, being attacked by muggers and a mysterious rescuer who saves him, but won't show his face. The mysterious hero does asking him out to dinner. Bobby is in a relationship- albeit a relationship that he wants to end because things just aren't working out with Seth who chooses to let his friends beat up on Bobby. Bobby tells Mallgwen that he will break things off with his boyfriend and then go out with him.
Mallgwen is a gargoyle and knows that Bobby is his mate, but he also knows that Bobby knows nothing about the existence of paranormals so he wants to take it slow. Taking it slow includes not letting Bobby see him until he thinks the human is ready for the shock of a gargoyle's appearance.
Their first date takes place with Bobby never seeing Mallgwen, but still enjoying the gargoyle's company. But it is later that night when Bobby seeks to avoid Seth that he gets a crash course into the world of paranormals when he accidentally comes upon Tible his friend in gargoyle form.
Now Mal's plans are all moved forward and he has the task of getting Bobby to accept him and all that it involves even while outside dangers await them too.
As usual, I really enjoy these light paranormal romances with their dash of action. This was a good solid start to this spin-off series. I look forward to more gargoyle action and maybe some of what might comes with the vampires. And I'm very intrigued by Bobby's ex, Seth.
I can recommend this new series, but I strongly suggest beginning with the Wolves of Stoney Ridge series or at the very least Gustav's Gargoyle Adventure.
